What Causes Inflammation And Swelling On The Left Thumb?

the right corner of my left thumb is reddish, little swollen and does hurt (throbbing pain) since yesterday. The only thing I can remember few days ago there was a dry little skin that was sticking out and I pulled it then filed using a nail file. It was ok after that, not until yesterday morning. I ve been applying peroxide and antibiotics cream but it seems to not getting better. Is it time to visit urgent care?? thank you for you help

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there & Welcome to HCM.
You seem to have developed some sort of infection possibly an abscess.
You need to be examined by a surgeon for further evaluation and treatment which may involve incision and drainage if there's a collection of pus.
Regards.
