What Causes Inflammation Of Bone In Foot?

I had inflammation in the bone in my foot in an MRI and a above normal CRP test, but the test for rheumatoid arthritis was normal. The bone may also have a fracture, but my orthopedic doctor who specializes in feet and ankles says he can not treat it until I see a rheumatologist. Why, if he he knows it is inflamed and has a fracture. I am confused.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Taking count of the opinion of orthopedist it can't be a fracture but can be inflammation or gout. I can suggest you to check the uric acid levels also in order to check for gout. Meanwhile, you can have anti-inflammatory drugs such ibuprofen or naproxen, use cold compresses.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
