Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Inflammation Of Perineum And Labia Minora During Urination?
I am a 68 year old female. I have Type II Diabetes and Hashimoto s Disease even though I am 5 2 and weigh 119 lbs. I have tried to add ginger into my diet as I have been told that it is a good alternative for pain relief and reflux. When I eat ginger my urine burns the perineum and the fold in my labia, which spots a little blood. How do I treat this burning?
Hello This burning in urine and perineum might be related to inflammation of perineum and genitourinary tract owing to passage of concentrated urine or urine infection. Since you are diabetic so there is a possibility of contracting urine infection.
If I were your treating doctor I would have advised you for a battery of tests like Urine microscopy and urine culture.
Depending upon the reports I would of prescribed you a course of antibiotics and supportive treatment like Lots of fluids orally like plain water or unsweetened lemon water you can take urine alkalinising syrup Get your blood sugar tested and keep it under strict control.
Hope this answers your question Please don't hesitate to ask for follow up question I will be happy to help you Wishing you good health.
