What Causes Inflammation Of Skin On Groin After The Removal Of Varicose Veins?

hi, my mum had surgery last week for her second time removel of varicose veins. She has been home since but around 3 days ago the skin near the groin area became inflamed, has gone hard, lumpy and she feels like she is giving birth. The doctors gave her medication and said that if it hadnt worked by today then there is something wrong. It hasnt and she is in more pain today than she has been. What could it be?

Hi,

Was it a ppen procedure or Laser/Radio frequency ablation. Open procedure can result in a small hematoma formation underneath the incision site. Other ablative procedure will destroy the veins by thrombosis where vein lumen will become thrombosed to appear a cord like structure initially which will disappear over time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Safarulla SH
