What Causes Inflammation Of The Throat And Upper Lung?

I have been on lisinipril and simvastatin for about 10 years. I also hve taken an OTC acid reducer for about 3 years. Within the past 3 months I have noticed tht I think I am smelling cigarette smoke (not strong) e en though there is none and the back of my throat and upper lung area feel as if I have breathed in very hot air and I have almost singed my throat and lungs. I have no other health issues and feel fine.

Hi,

You may be suffering from phantosmia.

It may be due to intracranial space occupying tumors or parkinsonism or Alzheimer's disease.

Other possibilities like rhinitis or sinusitis throat irritation may also support that you may be suffering from pharyngitis.

Avoid cool drinks and cold water, smoking and caffeine drinks. Use tablet Pantoprazole.

Use water vapour inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor, he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu,
