What Causes Insomnia After Prolonged Intake Of Clonazepam?

I have been taking Clonozapam for a while for sleep. I am now having trouble sleeping and think maybe I have been taking it too long. My doctor is concerned about its side effects anyway. What would be good to take in its place and have her prescribe and I will not try Belsomra, I have seen too many bad ads about it. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The long term use of clonazepam has developed downregulation of the regulatory receptors over which the drug is working and which is the reason for insomnia.

You require a change of medications from your consultant for further management of sleepless nights.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
