What Causes Insomnia Along With Swollen Ankles When Diagnosed With Hypertension?

My husband, 55 yrs old, smoker, overweight, high blood pressure, has developed very swollen calves, ankles and feet. He is having trouble sleeping and gets us frequently to use the restroom. He is stubborn about going to a doctor. Should he see his doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

High blood pressure results in fluid built up in lower limbs/ankles. Some medicines for high blood pressure (calcium channel blockers) can lead to swelling on lower less & ankles

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
