What Causes Insomnia And Hallucinations In Elderly Persons?

My mother in law is experiencing some rough times. She is not sleeping well and is roaming the halls at night. She claims that noises in her apartment keep her awake. She recently had remodeling done and thinks there is an animal in the wall. she takes a lot of medication so I don t know how much of a factor that is. She is a hoarder, by my definition. she needs things to make her happy. I think she is losing it...how can I be sure. her behavior changes from nice to argumentative quickly. she is 78.

Hello,

Behavior change and hallucinations can be a part of senile disorder. But still you should consult a psychiatrist who can better understand her symptoms and advise right treatment.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
