Hi, Since three weeks ago I ve been to my GP multiple times with insomnia and burning/throbbing pain in my legs and arms. I now also have very bad toothache. Two weeks ago, my GP said that I had a virus but didn t think it was causing the pain or insomnia. They think it s purely psychosomatic but I m not sure because the pain is constant except when I exercise. Would really like some advice. Thanks
Burning type of pain in legs and arms could be because of several reasons like peripheral neuropathy, reduced vitamin B12 , diabetic neuropathy, post herpes infection etc.If all the reasons are ruled out it points more towards psychosomatic pain. Somatiform disorders also present with similar complaints. I would need more information to be more specific like your age, sex, your work schedule, any stressors etc.TCA's are used for somatic complaints for Ex. amitryptylline 10-25 mg will be useful.
Hope the answer has helped you.
