Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having various symptoms that are rare for me. I have not had normal BM s. I have not been sleeping more then 6.5 hours a day, I am tired, I fall asleep when I sit down to watch TV, I get red hot cheeks more and more. I am a 52 year old women. I want to know if these are serious symptoms and what might the issues be?
There are two major issues that come to my mind hearing your history. One is possible thyroid issues, it might be good to have a TSH and FT4 test to rule out problems with the function of the thyroid gland. Because of your age, menopause can be a cause of some of the symptoms especially if you are having irregular menstrual periods or not having them at all. If these come out not to be the cause of your symptoms then depression can be a possible cause especially if you have low appetite, guilt, a lot of thoughts and low mood or life seems meaningless.
Seeing your doctor, having a good visit and discussing possible causes will help better understand the cause and get the proper treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General & Family Physician
