What Causes Insomnia And Restlessness While On Linezolid?

Presently, I am taking Linezolid 600mg BID and needed to abruptly d/c duloxetine 120mg QD. Friday will be the last day of taking the Linezolid. I have learned that it will only be 24 hours after discontinuing the Linezolid that I can start back on the duloxetine. Presently, I have been agitated, restlessness with psychomotor agitation and nervousness not to mention confusion. I experience difficulty initiating sleep and have early morning awakening. I take Trazodone 150mg that helps, but does not permit a full nights rest. Am I experiencing serotonin toxciticy? I also get cold chills and start shaking.

I'm sorry to hear you've been having some symptoms while on Linezolid, Duloxetine, and Trazodone. All three of these medications work to increase serotonin levels in your body, and the symptoms you describe are consistent with serotonin toxicity.

I would stop taking the Trazodone immediately, and contact your doctor for further instructions. Symptoms usually improve within 24 hours after stopping all contributing medications, but you may need to be monitored and possibly treated with medication to calm your agitation.
