Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 65 Year old husband periodically has episodes where he can t sleep but when he lays down he has extreme tossing and turning and uncontrollable movement of arms and legs that go on non-stop all night. He also makes grunting noises and other sounds. He is unaware of these movements or sounds. He will do this for a day or two. Afterwards he will fall asleep and will sleep restfully for a day or two. When he awakes he is back to his normal self. This happens at least once a month. Preceding these symptoms he usually complains about a sore throat, white spots on his tonsils and throat. He also complains about his mouth being sore. He does have false teeth. He also gets white bumps that form right below his lip. He slurs his speech. He always blames this on his sore mouth. These symptoms usually occur right before the sleep and movement problems.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query. Gastritis and reflux can give such symptoms. Taking proton pump inhibitors like Esomeprazole and motility enhancers like levosulpiride will be helpful. Thanks.
