What Causes Insomnia, Loss Of Appetite And High Irritability?

Hello. My 54 year old husband has been experiencing empty-tank energy, no ambition, no drive and no joy. He can barely take a shower in the morning. He is also experiencing insomnia, loss of appetite and high irritability. These symptoms have been going on for approx 1 month in this extreme..probably 3 or 4 months in the making.
