Hi,
I can understand your concern. In my clinic, patients visit for
anxiety after surgery. If I treated you, I would advise you:
1. Lexapro is to treat anxiety and
depression. Anxiety may cause loss of sleep sometimes, and Lexapro helps to control it within 2-3 weeks.
2.
Clonazepam is also given for sleep, but it will be more helpful when the anxiety is controlled gradually.
3. It seems that you had associated anxiety problem, which needed medication to control. Whether it was present earlier or has come up with surgery, is unclear to me. But it’s control is needed for better healing of your knee.
4. Please do not worry about the medicines given by your doctor. At present, the healing of your knee is more important. These medicines are not habit forming.
5. Please try
relaxation techniques for sleep. Try to avoid discussions that increase anxiety and negative thinking. You can try music therapy,
meditation, etc.
6. Please avoid use of mobile, internet, electronic gadgets, at least 2 hours before going to sleep.
Please feel free to consult for any query
Wish you a speedy recovery!
