What Causes Insomnia While On Melatonin?

I´ve been taking 15g of melatonin a night for the past month, recently i havent been staying asleep for more than a hour at a time even with the melatonin. Some people i know think my body isnt producing melatonin naturally anymore, is there a possibility of that being true?

Hello,

No it is not possible because melatonin is used to treat insomnia. It does not cause you insomnia.

May that particular hormones are not acting on you and you need a change of medication but as far I know it is the best treatment for insomnia and 15mg is actually ideal dose or you might talk to your doctor about dosage. But kindly use it for the same.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
