Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Intense Itching And Burning In Anal Region?
I have been having intense itching and burning in my anal region. Every time I have a bowel movement, the burning starts immediately. I keep the area clean & dry but the itching is constant. I thought I might anal fissures because I get them often but, they heal in a day or two. However, it just doesn t seem to be healing at all.
Itching in the anal region can have many causes. The most common would be anal fissures and parasitic infection. As you rightly said anal fissures heal early, persistent itching requires a thorough examination and investigation, a stool and blood examination in particular. Itching which is present during a particular part of the day for eg. only at night, points towards a parasitic infection. What ever may be the reason, you don't need to be worried. I would like to assure you it is curable, most of the times medically. Kindly consult a general physician.
