What Causes Intense Knee Pain Long After An Injury?

Right knee cap or underneath kneecap hurts. No recent injury that I can recall but I am a CNA who works with an 82 male who has had total revision of hip ( lots of lifting and transferring ). Pain has come and gone 3 or 4 times over past several weeks but usually goes away after resting it. Tonight no such relief. Not bad pain, just really uncomfortable. This is the same knee I injured skiing when I was 20yrs old (knee brace for 1 month). 52yr old female. When I bend knee, kneecap makes and feels slightly crunchy .

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief. If symptoms persist you can consult an orthopaedician and plan for an MRI scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
