What Causes Intense Pain And Swelling In Ankle Caused After Injury?

I fell down the stairs this morning and fell on foot twisting my ankle in the process. Ankle is very painful and very swollen and tender to touch. Experiences moderate numbness in the foot. I fractured this ankle about 10 years ago. Should I go to the hospital?

Hi
Welcome
I have gone through your query.
It is difficult to comment on it without examination.
Based on the information, it might be ankle sprain. But we have to rule out any fracture. So go for x ray.

Meanwhile you can apply analgesic cream or spray. And oral analgesic will be required with rest for one week.
You have to see orthopaedician for examination and further help
Take care
