What Causes Intense Pain In The Hip And Pelvis?

I wake up between 0300 and 0400 from significant pain in my hip and pelvis. When I sit up on the side of the bed, I experience a crushing weight on my lower back and pelvis. When I attempt to walk the pain increases. After sitting in chair for 30-45 minutes the pain is less intense and bearable. My MD thought it might have a bursitis and authorized a shot. This was three weeks ago. I still have this significant pain waking me up.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Imaging of the affected area should be considered to try and determine if there are any structural issues causing the pain. In addition to pain medication, you may also need physiotherapy as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
