Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Intense Pressure At The Back Of The Head Upon Performing Push-ups?
I was doing my daily set of push-ups and I decided to push myself a little harder than I usually do when I heard a popping noise at the back of my head. I felt an immense pressure throughtout my whole head but it went away after about 30 seconds. Could I have injured myself badly?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Hearing a popping sound at back of head and feeling pressure in head needs to be investigated. A CT scan of the head may be done since it is not advisable to ignore the symptoms pertaining to head. It is normal to feel increased pressure in head during push ups, however, it needs to be investigated. Thus, I suggest you to consult a doctor in accident and emergency department of hospital for clinical assessment and investigations.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
