What Causes Intense Vaginal Pain During Intercourse While Having Menopause?

I am 48yrs old female and have been going through menopause for a year or so now. Not sure this is the reason i am in so much pain when having intercourse with my husband. I feel like someone is scrapping the wall of my Virgina to the point of extreme pain along with a burning sensation. Kind regards Rose
