What Causes Inter Menstrual Bleeding Along With Migraine?

I had my period on September 1, but I just got it again on Saturday. My periods have been very regular for years. I just turned 47 on Saturday, but I ve been under a lot of stress the past 6 weeks. I also had a horrible migraine on Saturday. My question is could I be starting menopause or is my period being brought on by stress? Should I be concerned enough to see a doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is very likely that the irregular bleeding can be due to stress. On the other hand it is best to see your doctor and have a gynecological examination and probably a transvaginal ultrasound to rule out other possible causes. This is the case especially in patients over 40 years of age. If the examinations come out normal then there is nothing to worry.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
