General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Irregular bleeding can be due to structural issues in the uterus or may be related to hormones.

Structural causes would include fibroids, endometriosis, etc- Imaging by ultrasound, would be helpful.

Abnormal levels of hormones can also contribute to these symptoms, these can be checked by blood tests done by your doctor.

Hormones such as FSH, LH, prolactin, thyroid hormones, testosterone (can be found in females)- should be assessed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Michelle Gibson James, General & Family Physician
