What Causes Inter Menstrual Bleeding While On A Contraceptive Implant?

I have recently got the contraceptive implant. I am aware that a common side effect is change in menstrual cycle but I seem to be on and off my period throughout the entire month. For example, say my cycle starts, then 2 weeks later I get my period again, this time it lasts longer than it usually does (roughly 7-8 days this time) and then comes back 3-4 days later. I don t know if I should go to my gp just yet, because I don t know if it is something that will sort itself out. So yeah I don t really know what s going on, some assistance would be great.

Hi,

Thanks for the query.

I understand your concern.
Contraceptive implant is known to have irregular periods and the side effect is more evident in early months of insertion. It takes about 3 -4 months for adjustments.Wait for the time. Take homeostatic drugs like Gynae CVp till then to reduce profuse bleeding. Mostly you would get good result

If not you don't get effect. Consult your doctor.

Thanks.
