Hi,
What you are experiencing is an irregular cycle or intercycle spotting.
Once in a while, it could be a normal occurrence, do not worry.
Stress, anxiety, recent changes in your weight, unaccustomed exercise, travelling, smoking, drinking, late nights, erratic eating habits - all can cause such bleeding.
Disturbances in thyroid hormones,
polycystic ovaries, fibroids, cervical lesions, polyps,
endometrial hyperplasia - all can be responsible.
Have you always been regular with your periods? What are your height and weight? Have you ever experienced bleeding or spotting after sex?
You should have a thorough gynecological evaluation. This should include an internal exam - per vaginum and per speculum, and a pelvic
transvaginal ultrasound scan.
A Pap smear also should be done. Hormonal levels - FSH, LH, TSH,
Prolactin, OGTT, DHEAS, Free
testosterone - should be done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
