What Causes Intermittent Body Jerks While On Gabapentin, Klonopin And Wellbutrin?

I am taking many medications. Throughout the day, I occasionally have ticks in various parts of my body. Usually in my legs, stomach (main part of body). They are jumpy and jerky and very noticeable. They are very strong and not easy to hide. I take gabapentin, Effexor, klonopin, tizanidine, Wellbutrin, topomax, lamictal, . Are any of these causing my ticks?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Zoloft can lead to muscle twitches and tremors in certain cases. Mostly it is self-limiting and will reduce with time.

Mostly the body adjusts to the symptoms, but if the symptoms persist then it would be wiser to consider switching to some other antidepressants like escitalopram or paroxetine or venlafaxine.

Sometimes, if the doses are a higher then the reduction of the dose may help in reducing the side-effects. But 50mg is still is a small dose and further reduction is not warranted. So it would be better to switch the medicine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
