What Causes Intermittent Chest Pain Along With Diarrhea?
For the past week, I have experienced the following symptoms: Diarrhea (once or twice a day), grainy looking (almost like coffee grinds). On and off pain in the middle of my chest/sternum (like a large pill got stuck) lasting for several minutes at a time. I have no fever. My blood pressure is WNL. The only heart disease in family is failing heart valve and bicuspid heart valve (my 80 year old father - recently had open heart surgery for above).
Diarrhea is usually defined as bowel movements of 3 or more times a day, so you would be said to be having loose stools at this point. Though it is not diarrhea, if it is a change from your normal then it is understandable to be concerned.
This may be due to a change in diet or intolerance to a particular food/drink, side effect of medication, irritable bowel syndrome.
The feeling as though food or something is stuck is typical of reflux so it is possible that this may the cause of your symptoms. The use of reflux medication may help eg nexium, prilosec, prevacid, protonix
I hope this helps
