What Causes Intermittent Chest Pain?

Hi I am a 39 year old female. I have been having chest pains off and on for about a week now. They come rather abruptly hurt for less than a minute and leave. Most of the time they don t come back till maybe the next day. Should I be worried or call my doctor about this and schedule a visit?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for asking HCM.
As you having chest pain intermittently cardiac ischaemia should be ruled out. It is better to have an ecg examination for this. If that is normal then a tread mill test also should be done. Other possibilities for chest pain like costochondritis or gastritis should be ruled out also. For costochondritis there will be pain on palpation on rib area. A consultation with your GP is well appreciated.
Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
