What Causes Intermittent Cramps Along With Vaginal Spotting Postpartum?

I had my baby 7 weeks ago, I m breastfeeding but supplementing more. I ve had mild cramps off and on for a week now and had some pink spotting that turned to brown in the same day and nothing since. This happened a few days ago. My husband and I have had unprotected sex quite a few times but not around the time I was spotting. Is this my period returning or something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are partially breastfeeding him so there is probability that you can get pregnant still. I think you should use protection. It is advisable to do a pregnancy test because pregnancy is possible also.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
