What Causes Intermittent Extreme Pressure In Arms?
I have been having spells of 15-20 seconds--once or twice a day--where my arms feel extreme pressure--like lead blankets have been placed on them. I noticed this the day after my 64th birthday and since then have had my heart checked: stress test, chest xray, blood test, ultrasound, and echo cardiogram. All came back fine--but the spells are still here. What should I do next? They are not painful but definitely stop me and not normal. Am sure something is up but clueless as to what.
The intermittent extreme pressures in both arms can be related to trace elements deficiency as zinc, magnesium or others; nerve compression at lower cervical spine; strenuous activity related or others. However, exact site, type of pain, discomfort as well as physical examination would reveal much more details to proceed in this regard for final comments.
Till that time: - Intake of analgesic as ibuprofen or paracetamol - Local application of analgesic spray or ointment - Avoidance of strenuous activities - Avoid sudden, excess bending at nape of neck - Control of body weight and blood sugar
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
