What Causes Intermittent Fever?

I have been experiencing a fever on and off for the past ten days. two weeks ago I had to work in a nursing home removing bed rails because of a recall. I m thinking maybe I caught a bug there. How long does a flu last and is it true that it just needs to run its course?

Radiation Oncologist 's  Response
Hi,

If it is the flu, then usually it takes a week to settle down, with or without medicines. However, any fever (>100 F) that persists and not responding to paracetamol should be shown to a physician to decide whether it is the flu or something else. Usually, flu settles down with rest, proper hygiene and food.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jatin Bhatia, Radiation Oncologist
