What Causes Intermittent Fluctuations In The Body Temperature Of A Child?

My daughter is 4 months old and has recently had her 16 week injections. Last night her temp reached 39.1 I was able to cool her down and contacted an out of hours surgery. I have monitored her temp all day and has not had a temperature for 18hours so has not needed any medication. I am still monitoring her to be cautious. I have just taken her temp and it is reading 36.0 and 36.2 is this too low and should I be concerned?

Hi,

Temperature below 35 deg celsius (axilla) is considered hypothermia, and should be avoided. So no need to worry here as it is above this level. Anyhow, keep him well covered to avoid further dip.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
