What Causes Intermittent Itching Sensation On Sides Of Genitals?
Hi there- I m a 44 yo female. I have had an on and off itch on the outside of my top/sides pubic area. I keep my hair there pretty short. It s been going on a couple months. After reading about symptoms, my fear was crabs. But I have not seen any sign or eggs, thank God.What could this be?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Your problem can be due to fungal infection. You can shave the hair off to make sure there is no lice. For fungal infection you can use ointments with combination of antifungal like miconazole and corticosteroid like flucinolone for local application. Avoid using soaps and irritants to wash the area and instead you can use saline or warm water. Avoid hard detergents for undergarments also. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
