Hello,

After the unprotected sexual intercourse on January 20th, you took Plan B with a gap of 2 days, but still within the 72 day window. So you might be protected from pregnancy that time. However, you had unprotected sex after 5 days and did not take any emergency contraceptive pill. That makes you prone to pregnancy. Ideally, the emergency contraceptive pill has to be taken as soon as you can after unprotected sexual intercourse till as late as 72 hours. But if the pill is taken earlier, it gives more protection from pregnancy.

The bleeding you are having now could be implantation bleeding, the bleeding that occurs after conceiving. I would advise you to take a home pregnancy test in your situation. The home pregnancy test kit is available in all super and medical stores. You have to urinate on the indicator area of the stick and wait for 5-10 minutes for the results. The indicator area will show (+) or (-) sign. (+) means positive test and (-) means negative test. The instructions are also given on the pack.

If you are not pregnant and experiencing bleeding abnormality, then it would be advisable to visit a gynecologist for physical examination and further investigations.

I would also like to point out that if you are engaging in unprotected sexual intercourse frequently, it is better to go for birth control measures before the intercourse. Emergency contraceptive pills are for emergencies and accidents only. Their regular usage may cause immense adverse effects. It is not advisable to use this pill more than twice a month.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.

Best,
