What Causes Intermittent Pain And Swelling In Feet?
I dashed my left foot against a wall some 2 weeks back but now i have swelling in my left feet not always but sometimes it is there, sometimes not, i applied iodex and pain cream and the swelling went away but now and again it appears and there is slight pain not regularly but only at times please do not answer my question, it is not needed thanks
Intermittent pain and swelling in the feet may be indicative of fracture or a hair crack. Sometimes, it can be due to inflamed tendon or ligament. Get it clinically examined by an orthopedist. Get an X-ray done. If required, you may be asked to get done other imaging tests if needed. In the meanwhile, you can take pain relieving medicines (Combiflam), one when needed after food.
Do not strain your affected foot by unnecessarily walking. Keep your affected foot on a pillow when on bed and on a stool when you are sitting to prevent swelling. If necessary, apply a crepe bandage to your affected foot to provide support and ensure it stays rested. Don't tighten it too much or else it will affect blood circulation and make symptoms worse.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
