What Causes Intermittent Pain In Left Hip And Leg?
I am 67 years old female. Have just been told that I have rotolevoscoliosis. I have intermittent pain in my L hip and leg sometimes all the way to the ankle. I have much difficulty in climbing stairs and usually do the step up to method. I have varying pain at night. What is Rotolevlscoliosis and what is usual treatment. My MD has ordered PT. I am a retired registered nurse. A year ago I was told this was a bursitis but at that time no xrays were done. I have had this problem for about 2 years. Thx, marge
Scoliosis is the term used for laterla bending of curvature of Spine.Roto scoliosis signifies a curve with significant rotatory component.Levo scoliosis signifies a curve which is bent to the left side.( direction). So rotolevoscoliosis suggests that you have a spine which is rotated and bent ot the left side and moat likely its your lumbar spine. If there is no significant disabling back pain , this should not bother you .Intermittent manageable pain needs no further management. PT with back strengthening exercises suffice in most cases. If its unresponsive to PT and your quality of life is affected with pain, surgery is the last option in treatment strategies.
Hope this helps.
All the best. Regards.
