Understanding your concern. As per your query you have intermittent pain in tailbone and buttocks. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like piriformis syndrome , sacroiliitis , coccydynia caused by trauma, such as falls and childbirth, along with abnormal tailbone mobility, infection, tumor and fracture. It can also caused by muscle stain or nerve compression . I would suggest you to apply warm compresses to it thrice a day , take proper rest and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain . Consult orthopedic surgeon for proper examination . Doctor may order CT scan MRI or physical examination.
