What Causes Intermittent Pain In The Lower Left Quadrant?
Hi Good day! I have bee having (intermittent) pain in the lower left quadrant, sometimes just above the ovary esp when prolonged sitting and carrying my laptop bag. CT scan of the abdomen, kidney, gallbladder and TransV were negative (Praise God!). Seemed there s a feeling of pinching that radiates at the back down to lower leg. It is sometimes felt at the rightside too, but not as worse as the left. Please advise. Thanks

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The pain not associated with any finding in MRI & causing pinching feeling with the pain carried down the leg and also having the same symptoms on the right side occasionally. All of these suggest disc problem in the lumbar spine. X-ray lumbar spine would be confirmatory.
Please consult a spinal orthopedic surgeon. Avoid bending down or lifting the weight. Pain pills over the counter would give some relief. Specific management with medicines, physiotherapy or surgery in few cases would relieve you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
