What Causes Intermittent Pain On Left Side Of Chest In Children?

Hi, my 9 yr old son has been complaining about pain on his left side by his ribs and sometimes his chest for the past couple months, it only lasts for a few seconds but it happens when he laughs alot or just when sitting down, this has happened a few times times a month. What could it be?
