What Causes Intermittent Palpitations Despite On Synthroid And Lipitor?

Hi, I have palpitations from time to time. Since I was 15 I have had anxiety and panic attacks. I now take paxil, synthroid, lipitor and norvasc.I am approx 60 pounds overweight, I do not smoke or drink.I have in the past 2 years had a heart monitor on for a month, and had cardiac ultrasound. Everything comes back normal. When.I get the palpitations I do not feel faint, it is just annoying.I have had them from stress but I do drink coca cola and I like chocolate.I haven t had a pop since two days ago and I had one piece of chocolate today. I am not stressed today but I am having palpitations on and off.I am 64. Both my mother and my maternal grandmother ended up with pacemakers. I do not exercise often enough but I am starting to try and exercise every day for 30 minutes.Am I destined for a pacemaker or is there something I can do to help myself?

I understand your concern. First thing, you have thyroid problem and you are on synthyroid. Are you monitoring TSH levels and adjusting the dose of synthyroid at least every 3 to 6 months once? If you didn't do it, please do it. High dose of synthyroid can aggravate the palpitations.

Anxiety can aggravate palpitations. Get it checked and take medications from your family doc.

Limit chocolates, that can aggravate palpitations.

Now, you need to start regular exercise and regular diet.
