What Causes Intermittent Sharp Chest Pain?

I experienced a sharp chest pain that lasted a second or so , with no other symptoms along with it. I have been a lot more active the past few days , I m over 60. The pain also hit me an hour after the original, again no other symptoms. Not sure what this is caused from?

Such kind of ill-defined pains in the chest area is very often due to a muscular spasm that may be due to hyperactivity or due to a trauma to the muscles.

Don't worry and when you go to the primary care physician for regular checkup, get your heart evaluation done by him just to make sure everything is fine with the heart. Ask him to go for an EKG too. Meanwhile if you get more severe pain in left side of chest, radiating to left arm, hand, shoulder or jaw, you feel tightness in chest or any such symptom as breathlessness, call immediately the local emergency service for immediate help. This may be the signs of heart attack (Myocardial Ischemia).
