Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My wife had a brain bleed a number of years ago, still then over 60. She fell, but San Francisco medical center could not figure out if it was caused by the fall early in the morning of if she fell from the brain bleed. She fell face first on hardwood over masonry subflooring. it was ruled an accident. I thought she was tired at 1AM in the morning and she tripped over a small rug in the kitchen. On computer several hours. Can a brain bleed be caused by a severe fall, striking the head first?
it is indeed possible for any injury (even if not severe) to cause bleeding in the brain. Sometimes the injury may cause bleeding right below the injured part of the skull or it may also cause bleeding in the opposite part of the brain (contracoup). Such findings cannot confirm the cause though because the fall occurred anyway and she could for example loose her balance because of the bleeding first and then injure her brain as she fell.
I hope you find my comments helpful! Kind Regards!
