What Causes Intestinal Gas Along With Appetite Loss And Dry Mouth?

For past 2 and a half days I have experienced soft stools, extreme gas on stomach, lethargy, no appetite, dry mouth, and bloating. I have taken vitamins for several years without consulting my doctor, some of which are Ester C, Niacin, low dose aspirin, magnesium, Folic Acid. I have used Prozac for the past 35 years (and genetic Xanax when needed for the past 2 years). I have had these same symptoms usually every 6 months or so for several years. These symptoms this time have been worse and have lasted a day longer. I am a nervous type person and stress easily. Thank you.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. The stomach related issues and the dry mouth do not seem to be due to any vitamin deficiency. However, as you are taking Prozac for several years, these seem like the side effects of that medicine.

You can control the stomach related issues by using Digene syrup 10 ml 3-4 times a day especially after meals and before bedtime. For the dry mouth, you can use salivary substitutes such as Pilocarpine that is available over the counter and has effects for 3-4 hours for one pill. You can repeat it after 4 hours.

In addition, you can chew on sugarless candies and can have plenty of water. In addition, you can ask your psychiatrist or prescribing doctor if the dose or molecule of the medicine can be changed.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
