What Causes Involuntary Muscle Movements In A Child?
Hi sir my 10 year old daughter suddenly suffering from unusual muscle movement child specialist told to do some blood test her lymphocytes is 51and neutrophils is 40 and total wbc count is 5400 dr further told me to do EEG of brain is there is any thing to worry as I was suffering from non Hodgkin lymphoma
I can understand your concern. Her blood work seems okay and is not suggestive of Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
The most common cause of involuntary movements in this age group are seizures especially myoclonic jerks - which commonly are seen in the shoulder joint. Her doctor is right in recommending a EEG. You can also help her doctor in diagnosing the condition by describing the kind of movements in detail alongwith video recordings if possible.
This condition responds well to medications and she can resume her normal life with a little care. In many cases it disappears eventually. It will not affect her growth and development.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Dr Geeta
