Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was on my period for 3 weeks straight, went to the doctor she gave me meds to stop it so I was off for 5 days, started again only lasted a week but now my period is 2weeks early and is black and brown. What can be going on? I have taken pregnancy all have came back negative.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Irregular, dark periods lasting more than a week could be sign of some uterus problem or problem of other reproductive organs as follow 1. Fibroids- they could be most common cause of such bleeding. Fibroids in the wall of the uterus cause increased menstrual loss if they protrude into the central cavity and thereby increase endometrial surface area. 2. Anovulatory ovarian disorder due to prolonged estrogen production 3. Systemic causes such as thyroid disease, excessive emotional/physical stress can also cause such problem 4. Endometrial polyps or tumor can also cause such bleeding 5. Blood disorders of platelets or coagulation or use of anticoagulant medication can also be the cause of prolonged bleeding.
Refer to a gynaecologist Hope this information helps
