What Causes Irregular Bowel Movements?

hello i am having irregular bowel movements. It must have been a week or so since it started. i have started doing yoga and was watching my diet (though not strictly, which meant i reduced the intake of sweet foods) around that time. but now i am not having proper bowel movements. but i am not having stomach pains or stomach irritation. it is just that i get the impulse to use the toilet once in 3 days or so which is a cause of concern for me since i use to have bowel movements more than once a day.

Hi,

You should get yourself clinically examined and investigated by a gastroenterologist. Eat fibre rich foods. Drink lots of water daily. Include fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet, especially papaya and guava.

Further medical management can be planned according to the clinical evaluation by your doctor.

I hope this is helpful to you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. R.A. Singh, Emergency Medicine Specialist
