What Causes Irregular Dark Menstrual Bleeding Despite Having Safe Sex?
My Girlfriend and i had sex 2 days after the last day of her period. About 21 hours later I gave her plan B. (We did not have unprotected sex ,i used a condom, but I put it in for about 6 seconds in the beginning without a condom). Also i did not ejaculate. A week later, she tells me she is on her period. The blood is dark red and she says it feels like her period. Is she on her period? If she's not, what are the chances of her being pregnant and when should she expect her next period?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
No the irregular dark bleeding as you mentioned is not menstruation, It is breakthrough bleeding (her menstruation just occurred 7-10 days back). This type of bleeding normally occurs after intake of a plan B pill. Breakthrough bleeding most probably means that intake of Plan B was successful in preventing pregnancy. Chances of pregnancy are very less post intake of a Plan B pill & having breakthrough bleeding. Now her periods could be delayed too due to action of levonorgestrel contained in a Plan B pill. Plan B pills should not be used as regular method of contraception. These pills have higher side effects & are less effective than other regular methods of contraception such as regular birth control pill, condom etc.
Don't worry you would be fine Hope this information helps
