Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My heart flutters constantly. The doctors in the ER called them PVC and put me on a heart monitor to see why I'm having them so frequently. They are not painful just irritating. My blood pressure is low thyroid is good and I use to have anemia but that's good as well. All lab work came out good including X-rays So why is my heart skipping beats?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I would explain that your symptoms could be related to a cardiac arrhythmia.
If all metabolic tests result normal and your cardiac ultrasound is normal, I would recommend discussing with your doctor on the possibility of performing electrophysiologic studies of the heart.
From the other hand, you should know that anxiety could trigger all this clinical situation.
For this reason, I would recommend trying Yoga and avoiding caffeine intake.
PVC are premature beats that usually happens when there is a problem with the electric circuitry of heart. Saying that, it usually happens in many people with no serious outcome. However, if it occurs frequently and if more than 2-3 PVC per lead in ECG make it significant and workup for the possible cause has to be done.
Workup includes holter monitoring and electrophysiological studies. Please consult your cardiologist if it becomes frequent and symptomatic.
