What Causes Irregular Menstrual Cycle Post Miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage when I was 6-8 weeks pregnant feb 11th, I received my period around end of march and beginning of april. I have not received my second period since then, which would make me weeks late. I have taken multiple home pregnancy tests, and they have all said a clear negative. Is this normal or should I see a doctor?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I have read your description and understand your concern.
Irregular menstrual cycle happens in most cases following miscarriage. This is because, it takes certain amount of time for the body to restore the hormones to its basal levels from the changes that has taken place from the time of conception.
You may wait for about 3 to 6 months for your periods to regularize.
In case it doesn't happen and such irregularity continues, you need to get evaluated by consulting Gynecologist.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
