What Causes Irregular Menstruation After Removing IUD?
October 2013 I had my iud removed. I had it for 5yrs 4 months, so it was time. My period has been regular until these last few months one month it was 14 days late the next it was 9. Then theres last month I had a one day period but spotted for the other 6. My period is usually on for only 3or4 days and now there this month I can tell its on but it only when I wipe myself and its really light pink. My question is how normal is this?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Irregular menstrual cycles are most commonly caused by hormonal imbalances. Menstrual irregularities can occur after insertion of intra-uterine contraceptive device (IUCD) however removal of IUCD does not cause irregularity. Still you can wait for 1-2 months. If the menstrual cycles still remain irregular the you will need to consult your gynecologist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus management.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
